MST Finds a New Home!
Mile Square Theatre Announces Cultural Partnership
with Monroe Center for the Arts

Mile Square Theatre, a leading non-profit theatre in Hoboken, NJ, announces a cultural partnership with Monroe Center for the Arts, a business, art, and cultural development that is transforming the Northwest corner of Hoboken.

Mile Square Theatre, which has been producing quality theatrical work for the past five years, has until now, been a ‘floating’ theatre, using venues throughout the community to produce its work. Well-known for its annual festival of 10-minute plays about baseball, 7th Inning Stretch, and its free summer productions at Sinatra Park, Mile Square Theatre will now produce plays at Monroe Center. Says MST Artistic Director Chris O’Connor, “We’re thrilled to finally have an artistic home. We plan to produce at least 3 plays a year at Monroe Center and we look forward to drawing our audience to this part of town. This area has the potential to be a thriving arts district.”

Barry Campbell, Director, Facilities at Monroe Center, adds, “The addition of Mile Square Theatre to Monroe  Center feeds into our plan to connect audiences to the businesses  and activities  that are here. This is one more piece in creating a thriving business and arts destination.”

“We want to associate high-quality theatre with Monroe Center and help make Monroe a destination for arts.” says O’Connor.  “We’ll use the phrase “Mile Square Theatre at Monroe Center” when referring to the projects we do here. It’s a great fit.”

Mile Square Theatre’s first production will be Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, opening in late September, followed by David Sedaris’s irreverent holiday comedy The Santaland Diaries, which will run in the month of December.
