Our theatre classes are designed for young actors who are passionate about the craft of acting and are ready to be challenged. Our focus is on process and providing actors with the freedom to make creative discoveries. Our teachers are working actors and directors who are pleased to bring their expertise to the younger actor.
STORYEXPLORERS 1 hour
For ages 4-5 years
September 20-December 13 (meets 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, 10/11, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/29, 12/6, 12/13)

We will explore empathy, character, and dramatic play through the hilarious and often poignant Mo Willem’s Elephant & Piggie series. Focusing on a different Elephant & Piggie book each class, children will get a chance to step into the story and find their voice through tailored theatre games and scenes. The class will culminate in a presentation of our favorite scenes.
PLAYMAKING: ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’
For grades 2-5
September 11-December 11 (meets 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 11/27, 12,4, 12/11)
Mara Lawler and Annie McAdams direct an adaptation of Roald Dahl’s ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’. This class focuses on the collaborative rehearsal process and the joy of creating and preparing for a show. Students strengthen their critical thinking, ensemble skills, and confidence in a fun environment. Family and friends will be invited for a workshop performance on the MST stage on December 11.
For ages 3-5
October 7-December 9 (9/23, 9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9)
The class is centered on stories and theater games. Each week we read different stories and play theater games based on what happens in the stories. A theatrical way to develop a love of reading and theater. The class will culminate in a staged performance of our favorite story.
IMPROV FOR KIDS
For grades 6-8
September 14-December 15 (meets 9/14, 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14)
This fast-paced class introduces the fundamentals of improvisation through short form games and exercises. Students strengthen their mental dexterity, creativity, ensemble skills, and patience in a fun environment.
For grades K-1
September 28-December 15 (meets 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14)
Creative Drama K-1 uses games, improvisations, storytelling and scenes to develop young actors. We use ensemble building and teamwork to tell a story. This class culminates with a low key share day for family and friends.
INTRODUCTION TO ACTING
For grades 4-6
September 12-December 12 (meets 9/12, 9/1,9 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 10/30, 11/7, 11/14, 11/28, 12/7, 12/14)
Intro to Acting focuses on developing confidence and imagination. Students will use games, improvisation, and scene study to work on creating a character. This class culminates with a presentation for family and friends.
ADULT ACTING BEGINNER 1
September 15-December 15 (meets 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17)
Students work with Michael Shurtleff’s 12 Guideposts to make strong choices and develop an understanding of how to make active, personal choices on stage. This class is a great way to push your creative ability through a mixture of exercises, improvisation, scene work and monologues.
